Siemens Remote Service for Diagnostics (SRS) allows users to monitor system performance, provide faster service over the Internet, and alert service technicians when performance issues begin to develop. Using this solution, organizations gain a variety of benefits, including:

  • Less disruption to the flow of patient test results
  • More time for in-house IT staff to focus on projects that help improve healthcare
  • Greater instrument availability due to the prevention of unscheduled downtime
  • Faster lab turnaround times and increased productivity

The SRS architecture consists of the following key components:

  • SRS Software residing on your syngo® IT platform or a server on your facility’s network
  • A secure, firewall-protected Internet network connection provided by the customer for connectivity to the SRS Gateway
  • A network switch for linking multiple Siemens instruments to the SRS Gateway
  • Private network connections from instruments to the SRS Gateway
  • SRS Enterprise Servers located at secure Siemens sites

The SRS Gateway and the SRS Enterprise Server are located behind firewalls to ensure network security. In addition, the system incorporates numerous protections to guard security and patient confidentiality, including:

  • Username and password authentication
  • Administrative control over access to remote access sessions, software updates, and applications
  • Account and equipment access control by user login profiles and access level
  • Complete logging for auditing purposes
  • Anti-virus protection is constantly updated

The Siemens Remote Service does not send protected health information (PHI) across the Internet during normal operations and encrypts data when it does. When utilizing desktop sharing, Siemens service personnel may receive access to PHI with customer’s permission. This access is restricted to service personnel only.

In addition, all service personnel are trained under the Siemens Privacy Policy, which complies with the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in the U.S. and with applicable international regulations.
